How did retailers pick up the slack before the end of the year as they found themselves crunching numbers and counting dollars? Considering that the last shopping week of December accounted for roughly 15% of sales in December, they hoped that bargain hungry shoppers would go on one more spending binge before they started budgeting for the New Year.
